A Grand Cru in reasoned culture, with a very appreciable feminine touch

It was in 1954 that the adventure began for the Ménager family. Jean-Honoré, Juliette Granet's grandfather, takes over this 7 hectare estate, ideally located in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, on the heights east of Saint-Emilion. Here, beyond the panorama that you will not fail to appreciate over the rolling hills to the Dordogne Valley upstream (which contributes to the typicity of the wine), you will appreciate the kindness of the wine growers, who will be the pleasure of showing off their estate and tasting their wines, to lovers of Saint-Emilion Grands Crus.

A location as good as it is beautiful

Wine growers, yes, 100%! The Ménager family takes care of the cultivation of this precious vine on 8.5 hectares (7 hectares currently in production), where stone walls with ivy (a formidable reservoir of biodiversity) offer hiding places of choice for the fauna (bald). mice, rabbits and other insects hide there all year round). The Estate has also been HVE (High Environmental Value) certified since 2018. A label that crowns the success of the efforts made to avoid monoculture and offer flora and fauna a development space conducive to the overall quality of the wine. At Château Gaubert, the harvest is mainly done by hand, we harvest a blend of 90% Merlot, which is the traditional grape variety of Saint-Emilionnais, with a touch of 10% Cabernet Francs, which brings body and character to the wines. If the average age of the vines is honorably 70 years, Juliette regularly replants new vines to give vigor to her blends.

From winegrowers to winegrowers!

It is also at Château Gaubert that the vinification takes place, in the Domaine's cellar, the wines are matured there. Two vintages are offered: an entry-level Château Clot Tillet, vinified with lightness, from the youngest vines and which has spent 12 months in aging. It offers rich aromas of black fruits, a hint of vanilla… Perfect for the aperitif, it is the everyday companion.

Château Gaubert is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, which has been aged for 18 months (as required by the specifications). It is a wine for laying down which can be enjoyed with the finest pieces of meat, which will highlight the finest occasions. With its pronounced and balanced aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, it has a very soft velvety texture on the palate and flatters the palate with notes of undergrowth.

Bottling, packaging and marketing also take place at Château Gaubert. Where to find Juliette wines? In Saint-Emilion of course! In all the good wine cellars but also on their website, you just have to send an e-mail ou give them a call to organise shipments. The best thing is to come directly to the château to meet these passionate and fascinating wine-growers.

Visits and tasting of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru at Château Gaubert

Meet at Château Gaubert, after making a quick phone call to Juliette and Max. Depending on the season, they will offer tours, tastings and sometimes assembly workshops (in partnership with We Can Doo). It is a precious moment, the opportunity to discuss traditional ways of working in the vineyard. With her little Massey Ferguson, Juliette and her family maintain the vines with respect for the environment, in sustainable cultivation. Here, we promote biodiversity and we only produce 30,000 bottles per year, which is what is needed for an exceptional wine, on this scale. It is this clay-limestone plateau, which gives its typicity to the wines, Juliette will show you this harsh soil with 30 to 60 cm of good soil before reaching the bedrock where the vine draws with vigor and patience, over the years, the nutrients that we find in the form of intense aromas and so particular, in the wines of the region.

Introduce yourself to tasting with friendly and educational experts, indulge yourself with exceptional bottles at producer prices. Have you noticed how pretty and modern the labels are? It is Juliette who illustrates the elegant escutcheon that Max has designed with talent, it is immediately recognizable on Château Gaubert bottles. Le Clos Tillet is adorned with an illustration of Lu, the family dog that you will not fail to cross between the rows of vines or in the Chai, he will greet you with mischief.

Find Château Gaubert at wine fairs, open days and markets at the Château, watch the agenda and the Facebook page.

Visit Saint-Emilion in a comfortable electric scooter, from Château Gaubert

Château Gaubert puts on his electric scooter rental cap! In summer and when the good weather returns, it is not always easy to park in Saint-Emilion… You will see it for yourself… The solution? Juliette and Max have imagined a rental of electric scooters in Saint-Emilion, which takes advantage of the location very close to the village! Make a phone call (reservations must be made!), Then park in the Château Gaubert car park and rent one or more (4 are available in all) electric scooters to visit Saint-Emilion and the surrounding area. Tours will be offered to you. Rental possible for 1 hour, 2 hours or half a day. It's a scooter, comfortable, we are not there to play sports but to walk. Also, you can sit on it and walk in silence, in the vineyards and to the center of Saint-Emilion. NB: The pedestrian center and the sidewalks are prohibited to scooter traffic, you must set foot on the ground.

With a range of 40 km, these are adorable, very practical little toys! The speed is limited to 25km/h which is more than enough and you must be over 18 years old to drive the scooter, however, you can take a passenger with you! It is the perfect solution for a family walk in Saint-Emilion (put on the supplied helmet of course). You can then combine the visit of Château Gaubert with the rental or simply come and pick up your scooter, but that would be a shame, wouldn't it?
