Arcachon: a beautiful seaside destination!

Aaah Arcachon ! The coast, the ocean, the seafood, the boats, the Dune of Pilat … everything I dream of when I stay in Gironde ! Let’s go for a little trip accompanied by my very trusty backpack!

Short tour of the city at the port in Arcachon

I park on the Peynau square , near the Eyrac pier. The carousel turns, the children have fun and the setting is splendid! It is also on this square that the Ferris wheel is installed. A breathtaking view awaits you at the top!!

I head towards the pier where it is possible to take boat tours. Several fishermen are waiting for their catch and do not hesitate to start a conversation: are you on holiday? Do you know Arcachon? I have been coming fishing every day since I was a kid! Do you want to try?! In short, I immediately feel at home and I meet open-minded people who share their passion.

A lovely walk along the seafront in Arcachon

Once I have completed my sea training, I decide to go back up the jetty. The latter is very long. It is a very beautiful horizon line that calls us and only asks to take us to the end of the world (I exaggerate... to the end of the bay!!!). The paths are flowery, very well laid out and the pedestrian side echoes the cyclist side. It is also the charm of the Gironde, its large cycle paths that allow you to discover the surroundings for kilometers in complete safety!

I pass by the Palais des Congrès, ice cream parlors, restaurants, brasseries and seafood bars. All of this makes you hungry, I can tell you! It's nice to sit on a bench and enjoy the sea air, to see the boats moored or those out for a stroll. Arcachon is a relaxing, calm and peaceful seaside town that only wants the best for you ;)

A trip to the market in Arcachon

The sea air being in my lungs, I then go to the city center and more precisely to the market halls where the market and the good products of the region await me. Fruits, vegetables, cheeses, pastries, breads, clothes, there is everything. I stroll in the aisles, I find the kindness of the local producers who do not hesitate to let me taste their specialties: a small cannelé Mademoiselle?! I have good strawberries for you! I love this atmosphere!!

This market square is very pretty. Beautiful arcades all around, charming bourgeois-style buildings, sometimes with surprising decoration, as well as beautiful shops. There is a fairly visible contrast between the city and the beach but the two complement each other perfectly.

Discovering the atmosphere of Arcachon

Arcachon is also its different districts named after the four seasons : you will find the Villa Teresa listed as a Historic Monument in the winter town for example, the Notre-Dame d'Arcachon basilica in the summer town, the beautiful Sailors' Chapel or the Sainte-Cécile belvedere giving you a breathtaking view of the Bay (and it's free! ).

Arcachon has a very rich cultural and natural heritage . You never get bored when you walk there and I never tire of the beauty of the landscapes. They change with the seasons and over the years but the magic of the Arcachon Bay remains. Adults will find what they are looking for, as well as the little ones but also fine gourmets, sportsmen, nature lovers and so on!
