The essential visits of Bordeaux on foot or by bike

Bordeaux is a green city and cycling is the preferred means of transport for Bordeaux residents. Car-free zones offer you maximum safety. Cycle paths allow you to crisscross the city center. The tourist office offers you a map of cycle paths (fr). If you are wondering where to go for a walk in Bordeaux? We have selected for you a walk or bike ride between the Pont Chaban-Delmas and the Pont de Pierre, in order to see the most emblematic places of Bordeaux:

  • The Stone Bridge, from the beginning of the 19th century.
  • The Water Mirror, on the Quai Maréchal Liautey, runs along the banks of the Garonne and faces the Place de la Bourse.
  • The avenues of plane trees that line the Place des Quinconces provide plenty of freshness on hot days.
  • The Quai des Chartrons hosts a traditional market on Sunday mornings.
  • Port of the Moon
  • The Chaban-Delmas Bridge
  • The Darwin eco-district
  • The Botanical Garden

A Bordeaux shopping spree

Bordeaux is a dynamic and trendy city. Major brands have been established there for a long time. Freelancers and designers have created their style here. The ideal outing for a Saturday afternoon in Bordeaux is a shopping spree. Whatever your style, fashion lovers will love the pedestrian streets of the city center. Go to rue Sainte-Catherine, Porte Dijeaux or place Fernand Lafargue. Your hobby is more interior decoration, many concept stores will put you in the mood. And if you are careful with your budget, you will appreciate the Outlets of the Quai des Marques in Bordeau'village.

Visit Bordeaux differently

Do you want to see the city from a new angle? For this, nothing better than to try an unusual activity. We have found some original ideas for you to visit Bordeaux differently:

  • Among all the bars in Bordeaux, some are truly innovative and offer you much more than just a drink. A bar to learn about surfing on an artificial wave, a slightly crazy games bar, a floating bar to dance on the water and under the stars...
  • Discover Bordeaux by night : Whether you try a nocturnal guided tour or a simple stroll to admire the illuminated monuments, Bordeaux can be enjoyed just as much by night as by day. This is a nice idea to see the city from a very different angle.
