With or without children, it is a place of learning, wonder and awareness that is worth seeing.

Sunday morning in front of the museum, the meeting place for families

A superb setting!

The museum is accessible from the splendid public garden of Bordeaux . It is an ideal environment to begin this nature visit. Before entering the premises, you can admire the incredible building built in the eighteenth century that once housed the Hotel de Lisleferme . Moreover, a piece of the museum has been preserved in the state and presents a living room of the time.

Museum of Bordeaux

Each floor is dedicated to a universe and reserves a lot of surprises

I chose a rainy Sunday to go and take refuge there and discover this museum that I've heard so much about. From the entrance, you can admire beautiful specimens , classified by colors that suggest the potential of the rest of the exhibition! The visitor has access to permanent exhibitions, temporary as well as workshops and animations. Take a look at the museum agenda before you go there.

Very interesting temporary exhibition on the Aquitaine coast.

Museum of Bordeaux

An incredible ecosystem, complex and fragile

On several floors, we admire the diversity of living beings that they are from the animal world, vegetable or mineral and there is something to rave about the richness of nature . We remain amazed at the multitude of colors and shapes ... but also before the ingenuity of living beings to feed, move, defend ... It's fascinating! The museum displays nearly 3,500 extremely well preserved specimens presented in a fun way. For example, we can observe (without being scared) scorpion, otter, turtle, owl, dromedary ... and thousands of other species you may not know existed!

There are so many beautiful things to see, details to watch ... we could spend hours there and come back several times without getting bored. The 2nd floor gallery was bluffing me. It's really the most beautiful room in my eyes . The 4 corners of the room show hundreds of species of all sizes and all horizons: shells, butterflies, lemurs and even chickens! In the center of this beautiful room, we find majestic animals such as a polar bear, a giraffe, a whale skeleton ... we feel really small next door!

Great for kids (but not that!)

The museum has been thought to entertain and interest all ages . For children, or adults, interactive terminals allow you to learn while having fun. Children under 6 years also have a dedicated space: the museum of toddlers .

Museum of Bordeaux

The famous interactive terminals to test your knowledge

One of the exhibitions classifies living beings according to their way of feeding . I found this part very original and informative! Before the specimens is arranged a tool that represents the way it feeds : a clamp, a landing net, chopsticks ...

According to you, which animal is fishing thanks to its natural net?

Some practical information to prepare your visit

I hope this little preview made you want to go for a ride! To reach this beautiful museum, head for the Jardin Public by taking the tram C. If the garden is closed, do not worry, you can access it by the beautiful Place Bardineau .
