Who doesn't know the AOC Margaux, one of the largest of the 6 communal appellations of the Médoc ? A must-see when you're interested in oenology and Bordeaux wines, Margaux is not only a renowned wine, but also a pretty town to discover during your wine holiday. Let's go for a visit!

Margaux

Margaux, a village in the heart of the vineyards in the Médoc

Located on the banks of the Garonne, the town of Margaux is a good starting point for exploring the Médoc region in Gironde. Nestled in the middle of the Médoc vineyards just 40 minutes from Bordeaux, it offers a unique landscape that changes with the seasons, when the leaves turn green, yellow, ochre or purple throughout the year. Even if the town is pleasant to visit with its Saint-Michel church from the Enlightenment period or its Mademoiselle de Margaux chocolate factory, world-renowned for its specialties, its main attraction remains wine with the tasting of the AOC Margaux. Cellars, castles, visits and workshops, head to Margaux quickly to discover this famous vineyard and its specificities, and end your stay with a well-deserved relaxation at the Bains de Margaux, Spa du Relais de Margaux.

Margaux, a magnificent estuary to discover in the Médoc

Vineyards and wine are not the only attractions of this town that attracts lovers of this delicious red wine every year. Nestled in the countryside, between river, forest and marsh, Margaux is also pleasant to discover on foot, by bike, on horseback or even in a horse-drawn carriage. Indeed, the Garonne is ideal for river trips that take you to Margaux Island, a natural site at the mouth of the Gironde which is also an exceptional wine estate not to be missed. Other islands border the Gironde estuary such as Nouvelle Island, Pâté Island, North Island, Macau Island or Cazeau Island, natural refuges composed of remarkable biodiversity where migratory birds like to rest.

Margaux, some must-sees not to be missed

Get ready to experience a few unforgettable days between craft markets, concerts, banquets and entertainment offered by all the Margaux Saveurs partners made up of merchants, accommodation providers, golf, restaurants and wine estates! Wow!!!! This is the word that rather well defines the tidal bore, an extremely rare event that occurs on the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. What looks like a wave that is more or less important depending on the tides is a natural phenomenon that can reach more than 2 meters in height and a speed of 20 km/h. The more athletic will be delighted to put on their wetsuit and grab their board to surf the wave, while the spectacle can be observed in Macau, 10 minutes from Margaux.

You now know all the secrets of Margaux, all you have to do is plan your stay and enjoy.

Great escape in the Médoc !
