    • Pair-non-Pair is one of the most remarkable decorated caves of the early Upper Palaeolithic (around 32,000 years BC). Its engraved bestiary (horses, ibex, deer, mammoths, cattle) is enriched by an exceptional megaceros figuration.

The world's third cave revealed. Pair-non-Pair was discovered in 1881 by an eminent archaeologist, François Daleau. Acquired by the State in 1900, it became the first cave to be classified as a historic monument.

A key site for our knowledge of prehistory. François Daleau's work was one of the first scientific excavations of a prehistoric cave, with the progressive excavation of archaeological layers and the recording of all remains found. Pair-non-Pair occupies an important place in contemporary prehistoric and paleontological science.

A precious archaeological testimony. Intense occupation over 60,000 years, from the Mousterian to the Gravettian period, the cave has yielded 15,000 tools and 6,000 bones from 60 animal species.

Cave which contains scratches/sculptures of our ancestors 40,000-50,000 years ago. The guide informs us perfectly with pedagogy and energy about this place which rocks us in the life of our ancestors. Rock art.
