The oldest municipal museum in Bordeaux, it presents permanent and temporary exhibitions. The latter are on display within the museum itself, or in the Galerie des Beaux-Arts opposite. The museum's south wing covers European art from the 15th to the 18th century, while the north wing is devoted to the 19th and 20th centuries. Like many museums, it is closed on Tuesdays.
