    • The bastide of Monségur is an architectural and historical jewel of the Gironde. Located in the Entre-deux-Mer , this medieval city offers a journey through time and an insight into the urban planning characteristic of the bastides.

      A tall country house

      What distinguishes Monségur from other bastides is its location on a hill overlooking the Dropt valley. It has retained a large part of its original plan:

      • The central square, the beating heart of the bastide, is surrounded by covered passages and arcades.
      • The hall is a masterpiece of cast iron and glass. It replaces the old stone hall. This is where the market takes place.
      • The church, in the Languedoc style, is listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments.
      • The Gothic tower , a vestige of the medieval past, offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

      A rich heritage

      While strolling through the cobbled streets of the fortified town of Monségur, you can admire:

      • Half-timbered houses, witnesses of traditional architecture;
      • The ramparts, remains of the medieval enclosure;
      • The fountains, public water points which once supplied the city.

    A real asset for the village, but it lacks a little life, especially in the window, and the displays of documentation
